TNA CaPT Bulletin – May 2021

Hello Friends,

What a delight it has been to witness our daring feats once more on stages across Australia, to see class participants young and old re enter into our spaces and circus friends gather, sharing skills and the dance floor. We are so truly privileged to have started to be back in action and re-connecting with each other, when our colleagues, family and friends are still in lockdowns across the world.

This bulletin’s theme is connection and brings you key dates for your diaries, a celebration of Australian Circus royalty and updates from TNA and across the country for you to enjoy.

This quarterly bulletin is for you, so please feel free to send through updates and opportunities to me here at steph@tna.org.au or drop a line to tell me what information you are keen to see land in your inbox.

Take care,

Steph Cox and the TNA Team: Nicole, Josh, Tessa, Rani and Yuhui
Theatre Network Australia

TNA NEWS & UPDATES

TNA CaPT Advisory Committee Update

I would like to welcome Loki Rickus and Lisa Fa’lafi who join Harley Mann, Devon Taylor, Alice Cadwell, Jascha Boyce, Lisa McCready and Jo Smith on the TNA CaPT Advisory Committee.

Together we have begun devising a new CaPT Strategy to be delivered by TNA. We have six key objectives; Membership & Engagement, Informing & Supporting, Gathering In & Connecting Out, Promoting Innovative Best Practice, Advocating for Recognition & CaPT specific needs and Analysing Artistic Trends, Realities and Evolutions.

There will be a lot more on the Strategy in the coming months – so look out for more in future bulletins.

Inclusion of circus as an eligible activity in the Get Active Victoria Vouchers Program

TNA has confirmed that circus is an eligible activity in the Get Active Victoria Vouchers Program. Thanks to our colleagues at AusDance Victoria, circus schools can sign up for free  Ausdance Membership, and be listed as an approved provider. This means community members experiencing financial stress can access a $200 voucher to attend workshops and classes. More information can be found on the  VIC vouchers website and at the AusDance website. Similar programs are throughout Australia and in both NSWSA, and QLD there is at least one Circus provider.

20 May – Neighbourhood & Post Event get togethe(SA)

20th May // Adelaide Festival Centre // 12.00pm – 4.30pm

NEIGHBOURHOOD is a joyful long lunch to enrich national and global connections in our creative community and to celebrate local artists. In partnership with APAM, this is the first in Theatre Network Australia’s (TNA) ‘deconstructed’ Australia Theatre Forum 2021 gatherings provided for APAM delegates.

If you are going to be in Adelaide and would like to attend NEIGHBOURHOOD for free please head to TNA’s ATF Website to fill out a very short Expression of Interest.

Following the event TNA will be hosting drinks that will connect the CaPT community with other APAM attendees/delegates. If you are Adelaide based an email with more details will hit your inbox shortly. If you are travelling to Adelaide pop me an email steph@tna.org.au to ensure you stay in the loop.
